💡TLDR: The Mexican automotive services market is highly informal, creating distrust between car owners and providers. Inspectoro aimed to be the first trusted, centralized platform in this space.

Client & product

Solventatech creates loyalty programs for the automotive industry. They envisioned Inspectoro, a mobile app to simplify car maintenance, connect users with trusted providers, and promote Prime Protection, their insurance plan offering 24/7 support, checkups, and towing services.

project goals

Working alongside the PO, I translated initial discovery insights into a clear MVP feature set and product objectives:

  • Build a design system aligned with the brand.

  • Deliver a smooth onboarding experience, reduce friction for first-time users.

  • Let users register their cars in Garage — the foundation for the app and future marketplace expansion.

  • Implement Prime Protection upsell within the app.

THE PROCESS

I conducted research and a benchmark analysis of automotive and marketplace apps, analyzing their feature sets, information architecture, UX/UI patterns, and visual styles. I compiled the insights into a reference document to guide design decisions. Next, I mapped the app’s full structure and user flows, which was validated by the PO and stakeholders, forming the foundation for high-fidelity screens.

Onboarding for first time users

During onboarding, users are prompted to register their first car, a critical step for enabling Prime Protection and other services. I designed the form to be minimal and intuitive, breaking it into three steps and making it the first task for new users. Users also have the option to skip and return later to register their car.

scalable home layout

I designed a modular home layout, starting with the initial menu and allowing the app to scale into a full marketplace in phase 2. The goal was to display all services directly on the home screen while ensuring easy access for users.

design system

Established a brand-aligned system of components in Figma, creating a scalable library to ensure consistency across the app. This included typography, color palettes, icons, buttons, form fields, and reusable UI patterns. The system enabled faster design iteration, improved collaboration with developers, and provided a foundation for future features.

Impact

Although Inspectoro didn’t reach development, it delivered a scalable design foundation with a modular home layout, garage flow, and design system ready for future marketplace expansion. The Prime Protection upsell was integrated seamlessly into the user flow, demonstrating how business goals can align with UX. The Figma library and design standards improved designer–developer collaboration, and the project reinforced the importance of planning for scalability and embedding business value into product decisions.
